Eat the Rainbow!
This month's wellness challenge asks kids to "Eat the Rainbow" each day of the week for one week between April 3rd - 10th.
How do you "Eat the Rainbow?"
It's simple! It involves eating fruits and vegetables of different colors every day.
Why should you "Eat the Rainbow?"
Plants contain different pigments, or phytonutrients, which give them their color. Different-colored plants are linked to higher levels of specific nutrients and health benefits.
While eating more vegetables and fruit is always a good idea, focusing on eating a variety of colors will increase your intake of different nutrients to benefit various areas of your health. For more information about the specific benefits of different colored fruits and vegetables, click here.
How do I participate in the Challenge?
Use the form below to keep track of what kind of food each child eats each day, making sure to eat at least one food of each color between April 3rd and April 10th to be eligible for a Wellness Challenge prize.
Then, when all 5 days are filled in, turn your completed challenge form into the Wellness Challenge Folder in your classroom by Monday, April 10th to get your chance at a prize. And the class with the highest percentage participation will earn an extra recess!
What's better than winning a prize while you eat healthy!
